Assassin coming to Joburg

IOL Assassin .

Having to confess to Admiral that I have never been to his and Jah Seed's Reggae Nights sessions was embarrassing. Not that I have no love for the genre, but the opportunity never presented itself.

If you are like me, then there is no better time to see this show than today as the two Dancehall and Reggae kings will be joined by one of Jamaica's finest: Assasin AKA Agent Sasco.

“I met Assassin in Jamaica a few months ago when I had gone to do some gigs. We met with his management who said that they love to come to South Africa,” said Admiral.

Over the past 16 years that Reggae Nights has been rocking at Baseline in Newtown, Assassin's music has been a prominent feature in their play-lists.

“When I was in Jamaica, I did interviews with him among other artists for YFM. He is a fan favourite both on TV and on our gigs and we have been playing his music for quite a while,” explained Admiral.

The show will be called Drink & Merry after one of his songs with the same title.

“He is an edgy Dancehall performer, who is also quite the ladies man. He also appeals to the 'bling' market, but yet also posses a deep conscious edge,” said Admiral.

Tonight’s show starts at 9pm at R200 gets you in. Call 011 838 9145 for more details.
