ELIZABETH SNEDDON THEATRE: The acclaimed “motivational speaking” musical comedy, The Loser, starring comedian Aaron McIlroy in one of his best solo performances, returns to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre until September 23. The production mercilessly lampoons public speakers, subjecting the business of corporate motivation and “sales-speak” to a rigorous shake-down as a roster of outlandish individuals take the floor in McIlroy’s wacky style. STABLE THEATRE: Maluju Zulu returns to the stage after six years from Thursday to Sunday. Written and directed by Bonkinkosi Shangase, the production is set during the time when British forces occupied the village of Nkandla. Focusing on a story of love struggling to survive in a context of tribal wars, it reflects on how borders created between local communities during British occupation led to ongoing strife. GLENWOOD: The sixth annual Glenwood Festival offers music, sports, family, food, art and spiritual events from Thursday to Sunday. On Friday at 6pm see the Glenwood Community Proms. THE BAT CENTRE: Some of Durban’s most talented Indian and coloured stand-up comedy acts will share the stage in Chaarous and Bruinous 2 – Reloaded.
