WESTVILLE GIRLS HIGH: As part of its celebration of 50 years of excellence, Westville Girls’ High School presents The Wiz, the urbanised retelling of L Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. More than 100 girls from the school perform in the musical with male contributions from Westville Boys’ High. The show is directed by Claire Spinelli assisted by Roxanne Fuller, and boasts the involvement of Evan Roberts as musical director, set by Bryan Hiles and graphics by MC, poet and artist, Ian “Ewok” Robinson. THE PLAYHOUSE: Classic ballet masterpieces performed to music by French composers are what audiences will experience when Crown of the Russian Ballet tour the country. The innovative Moscow company will perform two shows only, on Thursday and Friday, at 7.30pm. The programme celebrates masterpieces of French music in ballet, including Camille Saint Saens’ Dying Swan, Jacques Brel’s Don’t Leave Me and Ravel’s Bolero.
