Top acts and DJs for matric rageComment on this story
Matrics and students letting their hair down after end-of-year-exam stress have been promised fantastic Rage parties at venues on the coast.
Kevin Fraser, known as DJ Sp!ndoctor, will be one of the DJs spinning the decks at the 4U Rage Festival this year.
Over 135 000 teenagers in South Africa will be travelling to Umhlanga, Ballito and Plettenberg Bay, which are the coastal hotspots where the party events will be taking place.
Students will get to sweat out their exam stresses, starting from next Friday until December 11.
DJs set to rock at the 4U Rage Festival include 5fm’s DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode and Gareth Cliff. Other big names on the performance line-up are Goldfish, Jack Parow, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Van Coke Cartel and Good Luck as well as DJ Mo, Digital Kaos, Haezer, Dizzy Cam, Funky B, G-Funk, Niskerone, Headphase, Justin Miller, Icarus, Jay Tweek, Royal K, Kyle Worde, Nick Supply, Das Kapital, Peter Booth, Sibot, Rayns, DJ Dunn, Tomorrow’s Will, Veranda Panda and many others.
Fraser, who has recently performed in international tours Aviccii and on the Mark Knight SA tour, is now one of the top performers. He said he was looking forward to the festival which he first attended in 2008 after finishing his own matric exams.
“I did matric at Kloof High School in 2008 and afterwards I went straight to Rage and let my freedom just crawl out of me,” he said.
At the 4U Rage Festival, Fraser will entertain crowds with his techno house music sounds which he described as “upbeat, funky and easy to dance to”.
Fraser said he was particularly excited about the fact that the festival would feature international DJs Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike and Nervo.
“I think that is definitely something to look forward to,” he said.
Festival organisers G&G Productions said they aimed to provide the “ultimate let-loose experience” which would allow students to experience the “South African version of America’s Springbreak”.
Managing director of G&G Productions, Greg Walsh, highlighted safety as an integral part of the Rage Festival preparations.
“We are acutely aware that we are responsible for young sons and daughters, many of whom are making their first steps into independent adulthood at Rage,” he said.
“We go to great lengths to ensure that every possible aspect of disaster management is covered beyond any legal requirement.”
There are four types of 4U Rage Festival Passports available: VIP Platinum Passport, Ballito Passport, Umhlanga Passport and Plett Rage Passport.
Passport holders will gain access to up to 42 events in the region depending on which passport they buy. Passports are available from R650 to R1 500 at schools and Vodacom 4U stores nationwide.
