TO NDR Margie Horne

Margaret Horne (pictured), long-term supporter of dance in Durban, died aged 73 after suffering a stroke. At a memorial celebration, tribute was paid to her generosity of spirit.

She served as treasurer of the SA Society for the Advancement of Dancing for more than 15 years.

Choreographer Mark Hawkins paid tribute to her honesty and unselfishness. Peter Taylor, administrator of The Mercury Durban Theatre Awards, acknowledged her as a manage-ment committee member since 2003. Caroline Smart said Horne handled the finances of the former D’Arts magazine and The ArtStand at Essenwood Market.

Horne leaves her daughter, Carolyn Shepard, son- in-law Shane, and grandsons Kyle and Blayne. – Tonight Reporter
