• Dance UCT 2014 runs on from Thursday to Saturday at the Baxter Theatre. UCT School of Dance is celebrating 80 years of dance. This celebration will showcase dance works and techniques performed by previous and current students. 7.30pm. R65. Bookings: Computicket.

• Curl Up and Dye runs on November 4 at The Rosebank Theatre. Christopher Weare directs final year UCT students in this 1989 South African classic in which Sue Pam-Grant highlights the popular and political cultures of the time. R100. Bookings via Webtickets.

• Precious Gems, The Circus and Musical Instruments runs from Friday to Sunday at Theatre on Main. In dance form, Precious Gems shows the conditions and pressures under which diamonds, jade, opals, sapphires, amethyst, emerald and rubies are created as well as the qualities associated with these gems. • Ashes runs until November 8 at the Galloway Theatre. Presented by the award-winning Rust Co-Operative (The View, Expectant, Siembamba), Ashes explores the life of a young man through the eyes of six characters (played by two actors), each somehow related to the man. 7.30pm.
