FOOD AND DRINK

Zevenwacht Restaurant launches its Sunday Country Brunch tomorrow, from 11am to 2pm. The brunch is accompanied by live music. On the breakfast buffet is a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, pastries, a cooked breakfast, cheese, cold meats, juice and coffee. At 12.30pm there will be a lamb spit braai. A full bar setup, including the farm’s wines, will be on offer. The cost of the brunch is R195 a person. (021 900 5700)

The Tuning the Wine Event is on this weekend at The Lookout at the Waterfront in Cape Town. It offers Wine Tuning Crash Courses, and food and wine pairings. Tickets are from R150 at Webtickets.

The Blaauwklippen Antique Fair takes place at the estate off the R44 highway to Stellenbosch in the Coach House tomorrow from 10am to 3pm. (083 444 0133)

The Natural Market will be held every Sunday from tomorrow at the Franschhoek Huguenot Monument.

The City Bowl Market is a food and fashion event at 14 Hope Street, Gardens.

It is open on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm and Thursdays from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.

DANCE

Cape Town City Ballet will present Thumbelina at Artscape tonight at 7.30pm and tomorrow at 3pm. The ballet tells the story of Thumbelina meeting her prince charming, complete with tap dance sequences, ice fairies, jitterbugs, chickens, mice and a suave Mr Mole. Ticket prices are R100 and R120. OUTDOORS

The Volvo Ocean Race opens today. The race village is positioned in front of the Table Bay Hotel and will be open to the public daily with a range of activities including a film festival. It opens from 2pm today and then daily from 10am to 9pm until November 19. See www.volvooceanrace.com.

Today and tomorrow is the 20th Cape Town International Kite Festival, hosted by Cape Mental Health, in Muizenberg from 10am to 6pm each day. Italian jazz singer Francesca Biancoli will perform in Gugulethu at No 52 NY138 tomorrow at 3pm. Biancoli, a vocalist from Bari, southern Italt, will perform as part of the Jazz in the Native Yards series with Claude Cousins (drum), Kenan Ahrends (guitar) and Nicholas Williams (bass).
