Cape Town - Cape Town International Airport welcomes all cyclists participating in the Cape Town Cycle Tour taking place this weekend (March 6).

The cycle tour itself draws about 35 000 cyclists annually.

A fair number of cyclists and their supporters will be moving in and out of the airport over this coming weekend and the airport would like to advise them of the collection points for bicycles.

For cyclists travelling with BA Comair, Kulula and Mango Airlines, the bicycle collection point will be at Parkade 1. For cyclists travelling with SAA, SA Express, SA Airlink and FlySafair, the collection point will be inside the Baggage Hall alongside the Out of Gauge area (near Carousel 6).

“For your convenience there will be signage directing you to the collection points. Please feel free to ask any airport staff member in uniform to direct you to the collection areas,” says Deidre Davids, Communication and Brand Manager at Cape Town International Airport.

When dropping off bicycles, cyclists who used Parkade 1 for collection will again use this area for drop-off. Cyclists who collected their bicycles inside the terminal on arrival, must first check-in with their respective airlines: SAA, SA Express, SA Airlink and FlySafair.

Thereafter they are required to drop off their bicycles at the Out of Gauge drop off point located on the Ground Floor opposite the lifts at the Entrance of the International Arrivals Corridor.

“Given that the airport will be abuzz with activity during this time, we urge passengers to come earlier for their flights. To avoid long queues, please check-in online but remember to still come early,” says Davids.
