Johannesburg - Kenya Airways is set to increase the frequency of flights between its Nairobi hub and Johannesburg in a move that is geared towards meeting surging demand and improving flexibility in connecting to other parts of the world.

Beginning December 1, 2012, the airline will introduce four extra weekly flights from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The Kenya Airways' regional manager for Southern and East Africa, Rosemary Adogo said that the decision had been informed by feedback from customers seeking more flexibility with connecting flights to other parts of Africa, the Far East and Europe.

“Convenience and comfort when travelling are paramount to our passengers' experience and this additional frequency promises to meet their needs more effectively,” she added.

The additional frequency between Johannesburg and Nairobi has been made possible by the recent acquisitions of the new and highly efficient Embraer E190 jets that will services this popular route.

The aircraft is ideal for family leisure and business travel, featuring individual screens for every seat with quality in-flight entertainment on demand. It accommodates 84 comfortable economy and 12 spacious business class seats.

This new flight will see the capacity increased by 384 seats a week on the route.

The additional flight will depart from Nairobi every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 1210h and arrive at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 1515h. The return flight will depart on the same day at 1610h, arriving at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 2115h.
