Cape Town - Great news for Lufthansa customers travelling out of South Africa, commencing on Friday (Sep 16), all passengers travelling in economy class out of South Africa globally will be allowed two pieces of checked-in luggage.

This was previously an allowance only provided to qualifying frequent flyers or passengers in premium economy.

Each economy class traveller will be allowed two pieces of luggage, each weighing no more than 23kg and each bag limited to a dimension of 158cm.

Andre Schulz, General Manager Southern Africa, Lufthansa German Airlines states that this offer will allow economy class travellers out of South Africa the freedom to travel with additional items translating into a more enjoyable travel experience.

“From gifts to the simple necessities from home travellers require on the road, we at Lufthansa recognise the needs of our customers and are happy to offer them an additional bag when flying out of Johannesburg or Cape Town.

“As we move into the last quarter of 2016, Southern Africa becomes a very popular destination for international tourists. Cape Town is set to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world this festive season owing to its beauty, favourable exchange rates, and exceptional quality and value.

“It is only fitting that we introduce this new luggage allowance now, ahead of the launch of Lufthansa’s new year round direct route between Cape Town and Frankfurt. Providing an exceptional service to our travellers is at the heart of our business, and we are very proud to offer our economy class travellers this additional luggage allowance, so that their overall travel experience is even more enjoyable and memorable,” concluded Schulz.
