This year’s guide presents Canada as the top country to visit, followed by Colombia and Finland. The experts recommend taking in at least one of Canada's 46 national parks, along with a visit to either Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto.

Colombia was lauded for its “rich tapestry of vibrant culture, nature and hospitality”.

The guide names the most exciting regions to travel to, with Choquequirao in Peru coming out on top.

Bordeaux in France was named the top city to visit in 2017 and Nepal was named top value destination for 2017.

The experts recommend a visit to Peru's Machu Picchu before the crowds start arriving, with a visit to Choquequirao before the cable car launch.
