London - There are stunning health retreats,enough to spur on your January detox after the over-indulgence of Christmas and within exotic locations that are sure to banish any lingering winter blues.

Accommodation experts Airbnb have released a round up of their top wellness getaways available this month around the world in locations including Thailand, Italy and New York.

From yoga retreats and breezy surf-houses to countryside chalets and sandy private islands, Airbnb reveal the hideaways that celebrities such as Nina Dobrev and Shay Mitchell are using to keep active this season.

 

Rainforest Retreat, Malaysia

At this treetop hideout, serenity-seekers can surround themselves with nature hidden in a rainforest in Malaysia. Complete with its own private pool, hammocks, fishing pond, lake and golf course, the stunning getaway location provides the perfect retreat for those looking for either an active or peaceful stay.

Rainforest Retreat is available from £114 (R2 675) a night for 16 guests.

 

Beachfront Yoga Retreat, Nicaragua

This beachfront paradise is said to be ideal for group retreats with either family or friends. Each beach bungalow offers a professional chef, masseuse, acupuncturist, and healthy delicious food – including three gourmet meals a day, fresh fruit, drinks, snacks and daily smoothies.

Guests can also participate in surfing, horse riding, practising yoga and relaxing on the break on the coast of Costa Dulce.

Bungalows available from £52 a night for 16 guests.

 

Italian Cookery School, Italy

Hidden in Tuscany is this gem which is situated on an organic family farm and allows guests to sample fresh local produce while learning how to cook healthy, hearty Tuscan dishes.

Host and TV chef Eleanora offers guests at her home genuine Italian cooking lessons throughout their stay too.

Nearby visitors can practice outdoor activities such as horse riding, hiking, fishing and swimming.

A nights stay at the school starts at £53 a night for two guests.

 

Private Island, Belize

Eco-luxury Bungalow, Indonesia

This unique luxury thatched bungalow is located within steps of a private walkway to Balangan beach, two infinity pools, and a spa.
