Europe’s hot new trend of singles holidays has arrived in Mauritius.

Sun Resorts’ four-star, R100-million relaunch of the veteran Ambre Resort & Spa has opened with ultra-competitive pricing for package holidays through to the December high season, providing guests are over the age of 16 and in search of grown-up fun and relaxation.

Travel agents in the UK, the US and Australia all confirm an upsurge in “solo” bookings in the past year.

Johann Strydom, MD of World Leisure Holidays, says the emergent singles-travel trend in Europe and the US is creating a similar demand in South Africa.

The current package rate for a seven-day, all-inclusive stay at the Ambre through to early December is priced at under R14 000. - The Mercury
