AB has proposed, but will he find time to marry the girl of his dreams?
Proteas wicketkeeper, AB de Villiers has a catch that he doesn’t want to let go of.
De Villiers proposed to his girlfriend in India on Sunday and announced the news via Twitter yesterday.
“Got engaged to the girl of my dreams,” said De Villiers on the social media site, adding “it was an amazing experience”.
His agent, Letitia Greyling, confirmed the engagement, saying De Villiers had proposed to Danielle Swart at the Taj Mahal in the Indian city of Agra.
She said the couple had known each other for five years, but she didn’t know if they had set a date for the wedding.
Greyling said Swart was a private person.
Their engagement comes just over a year since De Villiers’s teammate and Test captain, Graeme Smith, announced he had proposed to Irish singer and model Morgan Deane.
They were married in August.
De Villiers was recently made captain of the Proteas’ one-day international (ODI) and Twenty20 (T20) sides, taking over from Smith, and recently joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore for this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) competition.
With a gruelling schedule of Tests, ODIs, the IPL the T20 World Cup all ahead in this year’s cricket calendar, De Villiers could find himself struggling to find the time to organise a wedding.
