ANC lacks altruism

Comment on this story

The article “Sell-outs rule” (The Star, July 18) refers.

The Rev Frank Chikane is right on the button with his observation of the ANC as being self-serving, and there for personal gain and the “three Fs”: friends, family and factions. The legacy of Nelson Mandela, who had the interests of his people at heart, has not been followed through by subsequent leaders. The lives of the majority have not changed since independence, and some are now worse off than before.

Chikane is correct in saying that if the ANC wants to remain in power, it has to heed the plight of the people, particularly the poor, or they will turn against you.
