DJ FRESH now wears his love for Africa on more than his sleeve.
The 5fm disc jockey and co-host of the TV show Club Culture has had a map of Africa tattooed on the whole of his back. This is not usual but, the SA’s Got Talent judge is taking it a step further.
He is filling the outline of the continent with prominent African leaders and heroes. Using the hashtag #GetInkedMonday, Fresh showed the progress of his project. He already has the faces of Nelson Mandela, Samora Machel and Seretse Khama inked into the southern part of the continent.
He tweeted: “Twas a good day! #GetInkedMondays #Mandela #Machel #Khama #Lumumba #Nyerere!! #ImAnAfrican #AfricaRise.”
Fresh has always been vocal about his love for getting tattoos, and his arms and legs are already covered in ink.
A fan tweeted him, asking: “Who is next on the map big dawg?”
He responded, saying he plans to get the face of the former emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie.
When @RaymondMatosa told him not to forget Burkina Faso’s former president Thomas Sankara, Fresh said: “Yessir!! When I get to west Africa.”
He said that after Selassie, he’s following with the faces of Patrice Lumumba and Julius Nyerere.
