A MAN accused of hiring the killers of a Pretoria mother phoned her estranged husband’s best friend 55 times the month before the murder, the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court heard yesterday.

Cellphone forensic analyst Francois Moller said there had been 55 calls between former Nigerian olympic athlete Ambrose Monye and Andre Gouws, who is accused of arranging the murder of Chanelle Henning.

Monye made another 34 calls that Gouws ignored. Gouws phoned Monye 26 times in the month before November 8, the day she was shot dead.

Moller was giving evidence in a bail application by Gouws.

Henning was shot dead by two men on a motorbike at a nursery school in Faerie Glen.

Moller said that on the day of the murder, a withdrawal of R44 000 was made from the Andre Gouws family trust account in Centurion. – Sapa
