That in some cases, informal inquests were held in the magistrate’s courts. These came about as a result of tampering with the crime scenes by the accused, among other things by planting firearms next to the bodies of the deceased, creating the impression that their lives were in danger when effecting arrests.
These acts of tampering with crime scenes were cover-ups for their unlawful activities.
Instead of arresting suspects and bringing them before a court of law for their guilt to be established beyond a reasonable doubt, the accused shot and killed all the suspects, and in some instances, people who were not suspects.
In some instances, they did not have a decent case against the suspects.
In some instances, they did not have a prima facie case against the suspects.
