Since the appointment of CEO Thabo Dloti in 2010, STANLIB has taken great strides in meeting its growth objective to be a leading asset manager in Africa.

The company has implemented its Franchise Model, which has enabled its Franchises to focus on investing while leveraging off the support of the broader business.

This focus has had a marked improvement in the stability of the organisation which has resulted in better results for clients.

In line with this growth strategy, STANLIB continues to strengthen its teams through the appointment of key professionals with the relevant experience and skill sets. In this regard, STANLIB has announced the appointment of Ben Kodisang as Managing Director of its Asset Management division reporting to Thabo Dloti, effective 1 August 2012, and Sholto Dolamo as Head of Resources within the Research team reporting to Andrew Vintcent, effective 1 June 2012.

“As we progress on our growth path, bolstering the Investment team with a Managing Director will give me the extra capacity I need to focus on executing the other elements of our growth strategy. Ben's role is to ensure that the investment disciplines and the investment focus we have been entrenching in the Franchises, continues. Consistent with our Franchise Model, it goes without saying that the investment decision making in our portfolios remains the domain of the Franchises”, said Dloti.

Over the course of his twenty year investment career, Kodisang has held senior roles in investment companies in the asset management industry where he analysed companies, actively managed portfolios, built investment processes, developed products and positioned investment propositions with clients.

Sholto was an analyst in the Resource team at STANLIB in 2006 until 2010 when he joined RMB Asset Management (RMBAM) as a senior Resources analyst and later a sector head. He ran the successful RMBAM (now Momentum) Resources fund during his time there.

“We are delighted that Sholto is joining STANLIB, and believe that adding his experience to the existing team will make for a very strong Resources capability”, said Head of Research, Andrew Vintcent. “We believe this will fast track our ability to broaden the horizons of our Resource coverage.”

Kodisang will be joining STANLIB with many years' worth of investment experience, and a strong reputation in the industry. He began his investment career in January 1996 as an industrial analyst at Liberty Asset Management, leaving two years later as Senior Manager in the Investment team to set up Prodigy Asset Management. In March 2000 he joined African Harvest Fund Managers as Chief Investment Officer. In 2002 he began a ten year stint at Old Mutual, as General Manager of Employee Benefits, and later as Managing Director of the Properties division, then Head of Distribution, Marketing and Strategy. Kodisang joins STANLIB on 1 August 2012, and will report to Thabo Dloti. The Franchises, in turn, will report to Kodisang.

Dolamo has a BSc in Chemistry from UCT, an MSc Engineering (Materials Science) from WITS, and an MBA from GIBS. He worked at De Beers as a Research Scientist from 1995 to 2002, and was Head of Research at the Process Division of Lonmin Platinum from 2003 to 2006. - I-Net Bridge
