Johannesburg – Alexander Forbes says its CFO, Deon
Viljoen, will leave at the end of April after 14 years with the group.
In a statement issued on Friday, the listed financial services
provider said Viljoen was leaving “to pursue other opportunities”.
In his place, Bruce Bydawell will temporarily assume the
position of acting CFO.
CEO Andrew A. Darfoor says Viljoen has decided to pursue
a new role outside the group. “The Alexander Forbes Board is most grateful to
Deon for his contribution over the years. He leaves with my best wishes and
that of the board.”
Alexander Forbes also says Peter Edwards, MD of
Institutional Financial Services, will leave with effect from the end of March.
However, Edwards has agreed to stay with the company as a
senior adviser post his retirement, to provide counsel as needed while the
Company executes on its single institutional strategy, it says.
Alexander Forbes notes extensive searches are underway to
identify suitable candidates for both roles and it will make further
announcements “in due course”.

In September last year, the company announced it was simplifying
its operating model through three business lines: Institutional clients, Retail
clients and Emerging Markets clients.
“This strategy will focus and help us accelerate our
execution and delivery capability in building a Pan-African financial services
leader. We are making strong and decisive progress with the full backing and
support of our board. In the interim, I will also act as head of the Institutional
clients division effective April 1,” says Darfoor.
