Johannesburg - Shares of South Africa's Aspen Pharmacare rise 4.2 percent to 192.75 rand after the generic drugs maker said it was in talks to buy thrombosis drugs from GlaxoSmithKline Plc.

Aspen, which is about 19 percent owned by GSK, said it is in talks to buy the Arixtra and Fraxiparine/Fraxodi brands, except in China, Pakistan and India.

It did not give a value for the possible transaction.

Aspen, Africa's largest maker of generic drugs, last year bought 25 older drugs from GSK in Australia for 163.8 million pounds ($257 million). - Reuters
