Botswana had shortlisted eight firms to bid for Air Botswana, which is being privatised, the Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency said yesterday.

The shortlisted companies included Comair, the South African carrier, Ethiopian Airlines and Lobtrans, a Botswana fuel transporter, said Joshua Galeforolwe, the chief executive of the agency.

Bidders must "meet the government's strategic objective of having a robust, reliable and safe air transport service to meet the growing demand by the tourism sector, the business community and the public in general", he said. - Bloomberg, Johannesburg
