Kagiso Media: Free-to-air channel Glow TV launched

Kagiso Media had launched Glow TV, a new free-to-air channel, on the OpenView HD satellite platform, it said yesterday. OpenView HD is managed by Platco Digital, a sister company of free-to-air broadcaster e.tv. “It’s the logical next step for Kagiso Media. We’ve been successful in other media channels… We’ve created very successful African language television channels for our partners, but this is the first time we’re making an investment in creating our own channel,” chief executive Mark Harris said. Glow TV is a collaboration between Kagiso Media and Nolava Television, a South African content distributor. The commercial entity will rely on advertising revenues and intends to broadcast content from India, the UK, the US and Brazil. South African content will feature from March next year. Kagiso Media shares closed 1c up at R27.60 after peaking at R27.72. – Asha Speckman
