DURBAN - Old Mutual has launched a customer loyalty programme to help South Africans make better money decisions and in support of National Savings Month.

The rewards programme is not restricted to Old Mutual customers like other bank rewards programmes instead, Old Mutual's rewards programme is open to all South Africans that are 18 years and older.

Jean Minnaar, the General Manager of Product Solutions at Old Mutual said, "Rewarding good financial behaviour is key to improving our nation’s savings culture and helping every South African - not only Old Mutual customers – to take charge of their own financial future".

According to Minnaar, by encouraging certain behaviour, there will be a shift in mindsets from consumerism to wealth creation and responsible planning.

The General Manager added that among the behaviours they particularly hope to encourage are effective day-to-day money management, financial knowledge-seeking to support sound financial decision-making, gaining insight into your personal financial needs, financial planning and goal setting. However, the most important is following through on financial decisions.

The Old Mutual Rewards programme is unique because it has been specifically designed to change habits and secure their personal financial health through simple, accessible and effective financial education and rewards.

Through the rewards programme, consumers can earn  Old Mutual Rewards points for building financial knowledge and making sensible financial decisions. Activities that consumers can earn points for include financial assessments, using online calculators like the debt repayment calculators and education savings, etc.

Old Mutual Rewards members can:

1. Reinvest or donate their points

2. Convert points to products like the Old Mutual Money Account

3. Redeem points at an Old Mutual Rewards partner

4. Use points to purchase data bundles or airtime

To register for the rewards programme, consumers have to click on this HERE!

Then they will click register in the top right corner of the page and then complete the registration form and submit.

Rewards

Old Mutual is giving away R50 vouchers or 250MB of data to people that register for the rewards programme.

However, there is a catch. People will have to provide their ID number, cellphone number which means you may be receiving marketing messages from Old Mutual very soon.

Registering on the site gets you 500 points which can then be converted into a R50 voucher that can be used at a fast-food store like KFC and Burger King or swapped for R50 worth of fuel at a Total service station.

The 500 points can also be changed for 250MB Telkom data.
