Johannesburg - Sun International yesterday announced the withdrawing of the last remaining objection to the proposed relocation of its Morula casino licence.

The Goldrush Group, which has bingo operations in the Tshwane area, brought proceedings to the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, objecting to Morula’s relocation from Mabopane to Menlyn in Pretoria.

“Goldrush has now withdrawn its application,” said Sun International. Goldrush will relocate one of its bingo licences to the Morula site and operate there when the casino licence relocates.

”The target opening date for Menlyn Maine of September 2017 will be achieved,” the company said.

The group is planning to spend R3 billion on the new casino. Sun International shares on the JSE were down 0.33 percent at R96.00 at the close yesterday.
