DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal has many tourist attractions that are being developed and the Durban Eye is just one of them.

The project which costs R375 million and is an attraction that is similar to the London Eye. 

Tourism KZN said that The Durban Eye is a like a large Ferris Wheel that will offer amazing 360-degree panoramic views of the city of Durban and the Indian Ocean.

It will also have 27 fully enclosed air-conditioned cabins that can hold 16 passengers. The Durban Eye will take passengers 78 metres off the ground, on a 15-20 minutes 4 revolution ride. 

According to the Tourism KZN, the attraction will hopefully benefit KZN residents through job opportunities.

Some of the extra features of this tourist attraction include 2 VIP wheelchair friendly cabins and cocktail accessible cabins. 

Although the project is still in the pipeline there have been various sites identified for the Durban Eye including Durban Point, uShaka Marine World, Moses Mabhida Stadium and Durban North Beach. 

The Acting General Manager from Tourism KZN Abie Wentzel said that the mass leisure market from an internationally branded hospitality viewpoint is a distinct priority area for Tourism KZN. 

He added that some international touring companies have been searching for a tourist destination like KZN that can cater for a beach, wildlife and cultural experience.
