DURBAN - Durban will be hosting Africa's Travel Indaba from the 6th to the 9th of May and according to an eThekwinin Municipality statement,  the city will continue to host the event until 2020. 

The Indaba, is one of the biggest tourism marketing events of the year and it showcases a wide variety of tourism products from Southern Africa and it brings in international buyers from all over the world. 

Durban Tourism said, "This prestigious tradeshow is important to the city as it increases economic spin-offs for the city, increases job creation, and mobilizes international, regional and domestic visitors to our city".

Durban has hosted the Indaba for the past 26 years and it has become one of the biggest tourism expos in South Africa. The beautiful beaches, ample accommodation and world-class convention centre make the city the perfect destination for the Indaba.

According to Durban Tourism, they have used the indaba as an opportunity to meet face-to-face with their source market stakeholders. 

Meetings, presentations and hostings take place at this time which strengthens and secures partnerships with trade, buyers, media and stakeholders. 

"This prestigious tradeshow is important to the city as it increases economic spin-offs for the city, increases job creation, and mobilizes international, regional and domestic visitors to our city," said Durban Tourism.

The indaba also increases the number of tourists as well as the economic spend and contributes to the Durban's GDP. 

Durban Tourism said that is important that the city hosts the indaba for the following reasons:

1. Visitors are able to attend this show and enjoy the city’s attractions at a comfortable price as Durban is known as a value for money destination.

2. Delegates are now used to Durban and Durban does meet the expectations of all Indaba delegates.

3. In recent years, Durban has seen infrastructural and transport improvements that will give a tourist, better and more efficient quality experience.

4. Durban also has direct flights, international and nationally.
