Vestas scores big with supply of turbines

Vestas Wind Systems will supply wind turbines with a total capacity of 105 megawatts to Electricite de France’s Innowind unit, its biggest ever order in South Africa. Vestas said yesterday that it would supply 35 of its V112 3MW turbines to Innowind’s Chaba, Waainek and Grassridge sites, all of which are located in the Eastern Cape. The agreement also includes a 10-year servicing contract for the Danish turbine manufacturer. – Bloomberg

Profit puts cheer on Sasol’s stock

Sasol rose to the highest in five years after the biggest coal-to-liquid fuel producer said profit rose as much as 30 percent, boosted by higher-than-anticipated output from its synthetic fuels unit. Headline earnings a share rose by between 20 percent and 30 percent in the 12 months to June, it said yesterday, for headline earnings a share of as much as R54.96 compared with R42.28 a year earlier. The stock rallied 3.8 percent to close at R472. – Bloomberg
