SIERRA Leone Cement, a unit of Germany’s HeidelbergCement, cut production of the building material as the growing number of Ebola cases halts construction work across the West African country. “Ebola has brought the economy down on its knees,” head of marketing Modupe Taylor-Pearce said in an interview in the capital, Freetown. “We have seen a reduction in our overall volumes from what it was in the first half of the year.” Monthly cement production in the country fell to 20 890 tons in August from 35 280 tons in May. – Bloomberg
