DURBAN - The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards took place last night and successful female artists walked away with many of the big awards.
Cardi B who opened the 2018 MTV VMAs is a rising star in the international music and was even featured on Forbes 30 under 30 Music list for 2018.
The rapper who shot to fame with the release of her single Bodak Yellow has a net worth of $8 million.
Cardi B who first became famous through the reality show Love & Hip Hop: New York also has a huge fan following on social media. On Instagram, the rapper has more than 30 million followers.
At the VMAs, Cardi B led the number of nominations. She had 12 nominations and won 3 awards.
Cardi B was not the only female artist that was honoured at the awards. Jennifer Lopez was honoured with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The award is presented to music performers recognising accomplishments in music and film.

Another female artist that also won big at the awards last night was Camilla Cabello. The singer who split from her girl group in 2016 to launch her solo career won Artist of the Year and Video of the Year.
