CAPE TOWN - The South African Airways Pilot Association on Thursday, said Myeni's departure has brought relief to the national carrier's pilots.
This comes after The Minister of Finance, Malusi Gigaba announced the appointment of the new six SAA board members yesterday, which saw Johannes Bhekumuzi Magwaza replace Dudu Myeni as a new SAA board chairperson.
In a new statement SAAPA said, "The South African Airways Pilot Association welcomes the new SAA chairperson and the new board appointees, and looks forward to engaging with the new board. The pilots of SAA hope this new board will act in the best interest of the airline and its employees".

SAAPA and OUTA intend continuing with the application to have Myeni declared a delinquent director, the statement further said.
The DA Shadow Minister, Alf Lees said that Gigaba only removed Myeni from the SAA board because he was forced to do so by banks who lent SAA money.

Gigaba later on Thursday said "at the heart of these appointments, is a commitment from the South African government to strengthen the airline, and create conditions to see the transformation of all our state-owned companies".
The pilot's association has affirmed that they have remained professional and dedicated to the continued safe operation of the airline during one of the most turbulent times in the airline's 80-year existence and will continue to do so.
