CAPE TOWN - Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 on Thursday and Business Report wanted to see how this new device stands up against the Huawei P20 Pro, which was released on April 6.

The P20 Pro has bezel-less, notched displays, and a triple-lens camera, which is undoubtedly one of the best features on the phone. Bezel refers the edge around device.

It also has a  6.1-inch AMOLED display and 1080 x 2244 FullHD+ resolution. Simply put the picture quality is just amazing and Huawei have said that the device was designed to deliver professional photos but in a smartphone.

The phone is water resistant to IP67, meaning it can handle 30 minutes under water. The P20 Pro’s camera features 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, and “best-in-class” 10x digital zoom.

According to Huawei, the device’s camera also includes zero shutter lag and intelligent motion detection.

The P20 Pro can also shoot slow-motion video in 720p quality at up to 960 frames per second, matching the Samsung Galaxy S9, and there’s a 24MP f/2.0 camera on the front.

The P20 Pro front camera is a 24MP, whereas the Samsung Note 9 only has an 8MP front camera. When testing the P20, We found that the battery life lasted the whole day and the camera was the best we've tried thus far.

The P20 pro takes great images even in dimly-light environments. The P20 has great battery life, a flexible camera and the facial recognition added for security responds fast.

However, Huawei has removed the 3.5mm jack from the phone which will be a let down to some users.

The Samsung Note 9 meanwhile has a larger screen than the P20 Pro. Compared with the P20 Pro's 6.1-inch AMOLED, the Note 9 has 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display.

The Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung Note 9 both feature a 4,000mAh battery.

The P20 Pro packs the Kirin 970 flagship processor from Huawei owned HiSilicon that was released with the Mate 10 Pro. However, it a set back from the Note 9 as it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

These new processors are seen as more efficient, offering greater power at the same clock speed.

Samsung makes both the internal 512GB flash drive and a variety of 512GB microSD memory cards. Making it the first device to ever allow terabyte of storage on a smartphone.

The Huawei P20 pro has no wireless charging whereas the Note 9 does.

The biggest feature of any Note device is its S-Pen. The Note 9 S-Pen has a Bluetooth chip featured in it, which allows the pen to do more than just take notes.

Here some of its capabilities:

1. You can use the Pen to take photos or flip the camera from the selfie to a rear end.

2. You can use the pen to record a video

3. Use it to control your music player to play, pause or skip music.

4. Control your Photo Gallery.

Smartphones are increasingly becoming primary computing devices, the Note 9 transforms into a mouse/trackpad with a simple HDMI adapter and cable, upon connecting the phone to a screen.
