CAPE TOWN – Microsoft announced in a blog post that it will be releasing Office 2019 for Windows and Mac.
According to Microsoft, the update is designed for businesses and consumers that haven’t used Microsoft’s Office 365 service with monthly feature updates.
Office 2019 are features that have been added to Office 365 over the past three years and it includes updates to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio, Access, and Publisher.
"Office 365 ProPlus, the cloud-connected version of Office, delivers the most productive and most secure Office experience—with the lowest total cost of ownership for deployment and management. However, for customers who aren’t ready for the cloud, Office 2019 provides new features and updates to the on-premises apps for both users and IT professionals," said Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President for Office and Windows Marketing in a statement.
"Like Windows Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) releases, Office 2019 provides a set of valuable enhancements for customers who can’t be cloud-connected or receive regular updates."
Office 2019 will include a roaming pencil case and ribbon customisations across all Office apps.
In Word, the company added a focus mode, a new translator and accessibility improvements.
For PowerPoint, Morph transitions, SVG, 3D model support, play in-click sequence and 4k video export will be added.
Other services such as Exchange Server 2019, Skype for Business Server 2019, SharePoint Server 2019 and Project Server 2019 will also be released for businesses in the coming weeks.
