DURBAN - Facebook will be undergoing a complete redesign to give users a much simpler and cleaner experience. 

According to Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg said that when people want to message they want a simple and fast experience and that the redesign will focus on these ideas. 

Zuckerberg said that the newer version of Facebook Messenger will be clean and fast. 

David Marcus, the VP for the app, said that the newer version of the app will be coming soon  and that the team has been working on it since the start of 2018.

Messenger will have a dark mode which according to Facebook will be a nice addition to the growing world of OLED smartphones.

The navigation at the bottom of the app has been streamlined to three central tabs that will focus on communication. The camera and video chat icons remain at the upper right corner of the app, but everything else looks simplified. 

The announcement of the new version of Facebook Messenger was made at the annual Facebook developers conference, F8. 

At the conference, the social networking company also revealed their new dating feature. The new dating service will play matchmaker to millions of Facebook users.
