DURBAN - Netflix has unveiled new mobile previews which will play vertically on your smartphone so you don't have to rotate your phone.

The mobile previews are similar to stories on Facebook and Instagram, the difference being that they are 30-second previews of Netflix content.

The previews are shown like a slideshow on the app so you can tap on it to play the video or save the video to watch it later. Users can also swipe or tap the screen to move to the next preview.

According to the Netflix Media Centre, video previews were introduced on the Netflix TV experience last year. Netflix said that years of testing has made it clear that previews help users to browse less and find new content faster.

The entertainment company said that with the launch of the mobile previews, they are bringing a video browse experience to your mobile phone in a fun and mobile optimised way.

Mobile previews load quickly and are personalised to the particular tastes of the users and are easy to use.

The feature is available on iOS and will soon be available on Android.

The company just recently released their Q1 financial results for 2018, which show that company made $3,6 billion (R43,27 billion) in streaming revenue from its 125 million users.

The company's revenue has grown by 43% year-over-year in Q, the fastest pace in the history of its streaming business.
