DURBAN - Budgeting and keeping track of your money can be difficult with the economic times that we are living in.

Now there are apps that can help you keep track of your money and basically do all the hard work for you.

22seven

22seven is an app from Old Mutual. The app allows you link all of your different accounts such as credit and store cards, investments, loans and rewards. All your money is in one place. The app offers you a personalised budget that is based on your own spending. 

22seven updates all your accounts automatically and sorts them into categories. With the app you app you can view all your transaction whether they are from five days ago to three years ago. Using the app you can make investments into different companies and the option of investing tax-free.

Good budget

This app is based on the envelope budgeting method. Cash for each month's expenses is taken out and put into an envelope. The envelopes could be for expenses like groceries, rent or transport. 

As the month goes along you, for each category you spend money on, use the money from only that specific envelope. For example, when buying clothes pay for the clothing from the clothing envelope. Do not take money from the petrol envelope to pay for your clothing. 

Stop spending when the envelope is empty. This app helps plan ahead than realising at the end of the month that you have overspent.

Monefy

Monefy allows the user to keep track of all their expenses for a month. All you have to do is the next time that you buy coffee or go shopping fill in the expense amount then click add. Then you are done. 

The app allows you to sync data between different devices using your Dropbox account. The Monefy native app is available across mobile brands. 

For the first time, Monefy users the app selects default categories to ensure that you start tracking your money as soon as possible. You can, later on, change the default categories to new ones that suit you.

vMoneyTracker

It is an all in one app that can be used to track all your finances like expenses, incomes, assets, savings, loans, lends and borrow at one place.

With the app, you can track all your accounts and credit cards. You can categorise your expenses with their preconfigured categories or categories that you create yourself. 

The app also allows you to keep track of what you are spending and where you are earning from. vMoneyTracker also gives the user option to choose your base currency. For example, the base currency for South Africans is rands and the base currency in India is rupees.

Wallet from Budget Bakers allows the user to open Wallet on any device such as a phone, tablet or desktop.
