Cape Town - The Telkom shop in Kenilworth Centre was robbed by five men who only stole a customer’s cellphone.

This is the sixth time Telkom has been targeted in the city in recent months.

It’s alleged that five men came into the cellular shop in the mall with the apparent intention to rob the store.

“They fled the scene with one cellphone which was taken from a customer. No shots were fired and fortunately, no one was injured. The circumstances are being investigated and no one has been arrested as yet,” police spokesperson Andrè Traut said.

However, there have been contradicting reports on social media that shots were fired.

Last month similar robberies took place in Tableview, N1 City Express, Cavendish Square, and Stellenbosch.

About a month ago a similar incident took place at the same Telkom store in Kenilworth. Employees were held up at gunpoint. No one was injured.
