Cape Town - One of Cape Town's top criminal attorneys Pete Mihalik has been shot outside private primary school Reddam House on the Atlantic seaboard.

Janos Mihalik, Pete’s father, confirmed the news. He said he received a call from a relative in Pretoria informing him of the murder.

“It's a terrible tragedy. We don’t know the motive of this,” he said

Mihalik, who is an advocate, said although he had not seen his son for some time, the two were meant to meet later in the week.

He said he would often visit Pete’s teenage daughter after Pete's wife's death.

Pete was shot in the head and fatally wounded in his vehicle by an unidentified suspect who fled in a metallic grey VW Polo.

Police spokesperson, Noloyiso Rwexana said the shooter went up to the car window and fired shots at the attorney who had parked his car outside the primary school.

Rwexana said Pete’s eight-year-son also sustained serious injuries.
