Nick Carter has been arrested for misdemeanour battery.

The Backstreet Boys singer, 35, was detained by police on Wednesday evening after he was allegedly involved in a scuffle at Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West, Florida, according to gossip website TMZ.com.

Surprisingly the singer's occupation was listed as "none" on police documents obtained by the site.

Further details surrounding the incident are yet to be revealed.

This isn't the first time Nick has been in trouble with the police as he was also arrested in 2002, when he was aged just 21, in Tampa, Florida, after he was involved in a nightclub brawl.

The 'Dancing with the Stars' finalist was cuffed on suspicion of refusing to follow police orders to vacate Pop City.

He was charged with a misdemeanour count of resisting and opposing a law enforcement officer without violence but was later released on his own recognisance.

Meanwhile, the incident comes just months before Nick is set to welcome his first child with wife Lauren Kitt, whom he married in 2014.

Earlier this month, the talented star said he wasn't scared about the prospect of impending parenthood and was trying to make the most of his life before the baby arrives.

He said: "I'm enjoying the process, because I've heard that your life will change and your priorities will change and that's great. So we are enjoying the time we have right now."
