London - Dead rapper 2Pac ruled the UK pop singles chart for a second week on Sunday with a track that samples an Elton John song, while teen Welsh soprano Charlotte Church came in at No 2 with her first pop outing.

2Pac's Ghetto Gospel, released almost nine years after he died in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, features a sample of John's 1971 tune Indian Summer and is his first UK No 1.

Crazy Chick, taken from Church's upcoming album Tissues and Issues, marks the 19-year-old's first move away from classical and easy listening recordings.

Church, whose good looks and party lifestyle have made her a darling of the British tabloids, last week said the pressure of constant public attention had made her consider hiring a bodyguard.

"Everywhere I go people have got their camera phones out," she told BBC radio. American boy-band the Backstreet Boys were the week's only other new entry in the top 10 with Incomplete at No 8.

On the album chart, rock band Coldplay's X&Y led the field for a fourth consecutive week, while former British Army officer James Blunt held steady at No 2 with Back to Bedlam. Faithless' hits package rose two places to No 3, swapping places with Jamiroquai's Dynamite. In between was Foo Fighters' In Your Honor, holding steady at No 4.
