A force to be reckoned with. That is how his new bosses have described him.And as just before DJ Sbu made his big announcement at Starbucks coffee shop in Rosebank, Zahara set the tone with a live performance of ‘Imali’, which the crowd enjoyed.
A nervous-looking Sbu got on stage and thanked the Media for honouring this “prestigious moment” and mentioned how the media’s presence gave him confidence. A video clip about Sbu's announcement was then played and when the VumaFM and RiseFM logos appeared on the screen, the crowd screamed, as it confirmed the rumours about the DJ’s next move in radioland.
DJ Sbu's return to broadcast radio will see him broadcasting live from two radio stations - while simultaneously airing live on Soweto TV and 1KZN TV. This means he will be travelling weekly from Joburg to Durban and then to Mpumalanga.
S'bu expressed his happiness: “This is a dream come true for me to be a part of this family. We are here in the deep end and my job is to grow these stations. It's a beautiful challenge and I'm proud, humbled and honoured at the same time but most importantly I'm up for the job!”
He then called the rest of the team behind the great work and RiseFM Station Manager Ferdinand Mabalane said: “While Sbu brings the impact of a national figure, his show will still have a strong regional focus through breakaways for traffic, weather, local reports and interviews. We will also be unveiling further line-up changes at both stations, so that after you've had your DJ Sbu Breakfast, you will want to stay tuned the whole day.”
The All New DJ Sbu Breakfast takes to the airwaves on Monday 4th July 2016 at 6am on Rise fm Mpumalanga & Vuma 103 FM in KZN.
