Local comedian Tumi Morake revealed on her radio show that leaving Jacaranda FM was one of the hardest decisions she's made.

Following the official announcement on Jacaranda FM's website on early Wednesday morning, the 'Breakfast with Martin Bester and Tumi Morake' host  shared the reasons for her departure later that day.

In the morning segment, she said that she was "broken", and that she thought a lot about it with both her brain and heart, but that was time for a break.

"It wasn't an easy decision. I'm actually broken. A lot of heart and a lot of brains went into this decision. It is probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my career. There's nothing harder than breaking up with someone you still love and I am still very in love with Jacaranda FM.

"But I have had to put my family and myself first. However this isn't divorce, this is more of a goodbye for now."

Morake further explained that her career is taking a new direction and radio requires too much time and energy and doesn't fit into her plans right now.

She also said that she had a wonderful time on Jacaranda FM, even during the tough times, and learnt many valuable lessons from it.

Morake's last show will be on March 9.
