JOHANNESBURG - A police investigation into a fatal crash that claimed two lives and injured four people, including well-known actor Rapulana Seiphemo, was under way, Tshwane metro police said on Tuesday.

“The accident is being investigated, we are not yet in a position to reveal any information. All details will be released once the police investigation is completed,” said spokesman, senior superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

Seiphemo, 48, was admitted to Milpark Hospital after he was injured along with three others in a crash on the N14 near Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg. Two people were killed in the accident when two vehicles, each carrying three people, collided on Sunday night.

Seiphemo plays Tau Mogale in the popular soap series Generations - The Legacy. He is said to be in a critical but stable condition. Messages of support from industry players had been pouring in for the actor.

The Department of Arts and Culture tweeted: “Wishing Rapulana Seiphemo a speedy recovery. Get well soon, the industry needs you.”

Generations spokeswoman Gaaratwe Mokhethi said the cast wished Seiphemo a speedy recovery and believed that he would pull through.
