Local celebrities took to social media following the tragic news of Karabo Mokoena, the young woman whose alleged father confirmed her brutal death on Facebook this morning.

Tshepo Mokoena posted on his timeline this morning, “The boyfriend confession. He killed and burned my daughter.”

Hashtag RIPKarabo sparked a conversation on social media with another hashtag being created #MenAreTrash.

A lot of people, including local celebrities shared their strong opinion on the subject.

In a series of tweets , actress and radio host Thando Thabooty, wrote:

“I fail to understand!!! How cruel must you be to just take someone's life? #RIPKarabo”

Men are meant to protect us, to love us..what must happen when we can't be safe both in the presence of those we trust & complete strangers?

She continued to condemn the brutal act.
