Thousands of tributes have been shared on social media since the death of 37-year-old lyricist ProKid, real name Linda Mkhize, was made public last Thursday, many of which have been in praise to the contribution that the rapper made in the hip-hop industry.

The rapper will be laid to rest over the weekend and a memorial service will be held for him at Bassline in Newtown on Thursday, August 16.

Meanwhile, a rapper that is known for his comedic musical stylings Jovislash, has also joined in paying tribute to the rapper. In a song titled "Dankie Mkhozi," which features "Rhythm City" actor Bruno.

The video for the song features scenes of the past week where prayers and other gatherings were held in honour of the departed star.

Speaking about the song, and its purpose Jovislash said: "To me, it’s like history repeats itself. Two years ago I lost my other friend, mentor, and brother, Flabba. Now PRO is no more. It’s really heart-breaking. I decided to honour and thank ProKid with this song because I’ve learned a lot and drawn so much inspiration from him, I’ll forever be grateful” he said.
