South African comedian Trevor Noah has become synonymous with Hollywood celebrities since he became the face of the US late night talk show 'The Daily Show' in 2015.
So much, that it seems that some may even think that he's born and bred there, but not if Trevor has anything to say about it — and he does.
One tweep recently branded Trevor a "Hollywood elitist" when he called the talk show host out on Twitter for criticising US politicians, and the star's response was true to his roots.
He wrote: "I'm from Soweto not Hollywood."
Are you gonna watch the show so you can answer your own question?
And ps I'm from Soweto not Hollywood. 😄 https://t.co/mCKlYm0bpU
And Twitter showed their appreciation for his response. Here are some of their tweets:
Watching the likes and retweets on this tweet like a money counter 😂😂
Tell them Trevor , Maybe next time they will know not to mess with kids who come straight out of the the landmarks that Simba was born at. pic.twitter.com/WwFpTmf6CZ
While others saw it as an opportunity to commend the Trevor's talent.
Trev, u won't read this but I need 2 say it anyway. I was devastated when Jon left n had very lil idea of ur previous works but I gave u a chance n can say u won me over 'yuge'ly. Ur the reason I keep payTV. U maintain Jon's impossible standards n have that class n wit I love
This is pretty close to how I feel as well. Also after reading Trever’s book I felt like we were best friends ❤️
You are amongst the best in the biz. I was sure i was never going to watch TDS when what’s his name left, but you won me over big time. Thank you.
Mzansi, however, soon pulled rank after Trevor was propositioned for marriage so that he can secure US citizenship.
Will you just marry me now? Citizenship 😘
But Trevor is ours pic.twitter.com/UXYmHGy455
Never that...Please be content American ladies, y'all just bagged Prince Harry. Leave Trevor for other continents, you can't have all the hot men. Hau, ngeke!
Hold up you two. He’s still ours 🖐🏾 🇿🇦
