Bryan Habana and his new wife Janine's marriage took place in as much secrecy as possible with beefy security guards trying to ward off reporters and photographers with hostile glares.

A security cordon was thrown up around the upmarket Sorex Estate in Centurion where the couple, who got engaged last year, tied the knot on Sunday afternoon.

The fairytale wedding saw Viljoen, dressed in an elegant white gown, being driven to the church in a carriage pulled by four white horses.

As the horses whinnied and stamped their hooves, Viljoen's flower girls, who wore dresses of royal purple, ran around frantically.

Roads outside were blocked off by ADT security guards. Sorex Estate is described on its website as a dramatic fairytale castle with high walls and parapets. Reporters spotted earlier in the day photographing the venue were chased away.

Among the guests who attended the wedding were several of the Springbok and Blue Bulls star's rugby team-mates and their wives.

It is believed that the newlyweds, who met at the University of Johannesburg while studying four years ago, had sold publicity rights to their wedding to a local magazine.

To protect these rights, guests were asked to hand over cellphones and cameras.
