London - The hand that rocks the cradle truly does rule the world, it seems, after Britain’s most senior bosses proudly admitted they are mommy’s boys.

As salaries and job status rise, the more likely men are to turn to their mothers for advice about life’s big decisions, a survey found.

Nearly two out of three men who worked as chief executives, surgeons, senior civil servants and similar high-flying jobs described themselves as mommy’s boys.

In contrast, one in five in working-class professions, and two in five in semi-skilled or manual jobs admitted being tied to their mother’s apron strings.

Nearly half the men questioned by adult learning website Love to Learn said they were mommy’s boys.

The men agreed a mommy’s boy was: a man who runs every life decision past his mother (62 percent); who takes her side over everyone else’s (39 percent); who still lives with her (38 percent); whose mother still does his washing (37 percent); whose mother cooks his meals (28 percent) and who likes to spend time with his mother (18 percent).

Love to Learn questioned 1,000 men and women and 41 per cent of females said they would never date a mommy’s boy.

But Richard Innes, of men’s magazine Zoo, said: “We’ve all had moments when we’ve felt our mum is the only person we can turn to. If a girlfriend doesn’t like that, it says more about them than you.” - Daily Mail
