Vikram, in one of his latest interviews, has revealed that the team of Iru Mugan had initially planned to cast another star for the role of Love - the transgender antagonist of the film.

"We initially thought of roping in another star for that role in the movie. But it is evident that once people see Love in the trailer, Akhilan's role is a little subdued," he said.

The Anniyan actor had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to star in a film, that requires him to play a dual role.

"I wanted to do a dual role for a very long time now. Not the same person with different shades like Anniyan or I, but something entirely different," he has said.

The actor, who has bagged many awards including India’s prestigious National Award, has said he doesn't perform keeping awards in mind.

"I am here to perform for the audience and not awards. Of course awards recognize your performances, but the audience's applause is the best award that I can take home," he said.

Iru Mugan is a Tamil movie with direction by Anand Shankar. Chiyaan Vikram and Nayanthara paired for the first time for this movie along with Nithya Menon.

The action thriller is based on international espionage.

The story is based on the attacks of the Indian Embassy in Malaysia and the chemical smuggling by ‘Love’ (Vikram) in general medicines. Akilan (Vikram) takes charge of this case and moves to Malaysia with Nitya Menon.

Nayantara comes as Vikram's wife in flashback portions. She gets killed by Love. Vikram takes the task of locking horns with Love and this time what he does to pay back for his wife's death forms the rest of the story.

Harrish Jayarai has composed music for this movie. Since the film’s recent release (September 8) its had the boxoffice tills ringing. Since the film has Vikram playing dual roles for the first time, it was one of the most anticipated Tamil films in recent times.

Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, the film has already crossed the multimillion mark from its worldwide box office takings. What more, it is said that producer Shibu Thameens has confirmed the box office numbers in question. – oneindia/com /
