Over 20 00 people showed up on Saturday September 03,to celebrate Joburg Day at the secluded Crocodile Creek Polo Estate, approximately one hour drive out of Johannesburg.

The spring sun also showed up in all its glory and attendees had colourful umbrellas, hats, shades and cooler boxes ready for the entertainment-filled day. The organisers also had people go around spraying sun screen on the crowd.

Tivo kicked off the show, and was followed by Matthew Mole, then rapper Kwesta and Nasty C. They set the mood for the day and the raised the bar for the rest of the acts as the crowd was left on a 'buzz'.

The place almost felt like one big club when DJ Euphonik started his set, with fans jumping up and down with their hands up.

DJ Black Coffee, who just recently came back from his worldwide tour, was one of the most anticipated acts of the day.

When he started playing almost everyone got on their feet and danced to his hits.

Near the end of his set, he was joined by Nakhane Toure for the 'We Dance Again' hit. The singer mesmerised the crowd with his moves.

The line-up was set up so that singer Shekhina and Kyle Deutsch were to perform after Black Coffee. This was apparently the largest crowd Shekhina had ever performed for and following a big act like Black Coffee increased the pressure.

But just as Black Coffee walked off stage, he greeted her and gave her a hug. The DJ helped calm Shekhina's nerves with a quick pep talk before he took off to an exclusive interview with Anele Mdoda of 94.7.

The party mood intensified from that point, as rapper AKA got on stage - and the crowd was like putty in his hands.

The rapper, who definitely has a strong stage presence, performed some of his hit songs such as 'Baddest' and 'Run Jozi'. He also called up rapper Da Les for 'Reel Stuff' and rapper JR for the collabo 'All Eyes On Me'.

He was also accompanied by the woman in his life, Bonang Matheba, who stood in front of the stage to watch him perform.

As the sun slowly went down, the energy of the crowd increased and by the time DJ Kent was on the “ones and twos” it was clear he had officially taken over.

Many took to social media using the hashtag #HuaweiJoburgDay, which was on the trend list all day, to salute the artists - and DJ Kent in particular - who some said is “one of the best” DJs in South Africa.
